Movie buffs, rejoice! It’s been known for a while now that the famed Criterion Collection – a set of over 1,000 carefully curated “important classic and contemporary films” – which had been previously hosted on Hulu, and then FilmStruck, was going to get its own streaming platform.
Yesterday, The Criterion Channel was officially announced and set for a launch date of April 8, 2019. It will be available to stream on desktop, iOS, Android, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, and Roku, and will cost $10.99/month or $99 annually, though if you sign up now, you can lock in for $9.99/month or $89 annually. In addition to the Criterion Collection, the platform will host other select Hollywood, international, and independent titles, along with other special programming.
